Twickenham Removals

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

The things people most often ask before booking a move with us — from fine-items and parking realities in Twickenham to customs on a European move. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

Good to know

Everything you might ask

Which areas around Twickenham do you cover?

The whole of TW1 and TW2: Twickenham town centre, the riverside and Eel Pie Island, St Margarets, Twickenham Green, Whitton and the streets down to Marble Hill and the Thames. We move to and from Twickenham across the rest of London and the country too, and out to Europe.

What’s the difference between your move tiers?

A standard move is you-pack, we-move. A full-service move adds full packing, unpacking and clear-away, so you step into a working home. Premium & fine-items is a carefully managed move for period homes and delicate pieces — antiques, art, pianos — with bespoke crating and a named coordinator. Office & commercial is planned around your trading hours. Each tier is described by what’s included, never by a price on the page.

Can you move fine art, antiques and a piano?

Yes — the premium & fine-items tier is built for exactly this. We use custom protection and bespoke crating for fragile and valuable pieces, and specialist handling for antiques, art, mirrors, chandeliers and instruments. Tell us what you’ve got at the survey and we’ll plan how each item travels.

Do you offer storage?

We do. Clean, secure storage for anything from a few boxes to a whole home, with a move-and-store option handled in one booking — useful when completion dates don’t line up or a renovation isn’t finished. See the storage page for how it works.

Do you do a man & van service for small jobs?

Yes — a driver and a van for the smaller jobs, like a few items, a single room or a quick pickup across TW1 and TW2. If it grows into a full house move we’ll tell you honestly and quote the right tier instead.

How is a quote worked out?

We look at the size of the move, the access at both ends (stairs, lifts, parking, riverside restrictions), how much packing you want, and anything delicate that needs special handling. We’ll often do a short video or in-person survey first, then send a clear written quote. No prices are shown on the site because every move is different.

What are the parking and access realities in Twickenham?

Parts of Twickenham are tight — the St Margarets grid, the riverside roads and the streets around the station can be narrow and permit-controlled, and match days near the stadium affect access. We check parking and any permits needed before the day and plan the load so the crew isn’t carrying further than they need to.

Which European countries do you move to from Twickenham?

France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Each is planned as a route pair from Twickenham — out on the A316 and M3 to the M25 and the Channel, then on to the destination region. We keep the customs paperwork straight and run the move as one journey with one team.

How do you handle customs on a European move since Brexit?

A household move to the EU now needs an inventory and the right transit and customs documents. We prepare and file them for you and give honest, plain guidance on what’s needed. Timing at the border depends on the route and the paperwork rather than a fixed schedule, and your written quote sets out what to expect.

Are you insured?

Yes — goods-in-transit and public liability cover come as standard, and we’ll explain what the cover means before you book. For high-value or fine-art pieces we’ll talk through the right level of protection for your particular items.

Do I need to be there on moving day?

Ideally someone is, at both ends, to point out what goes where and check things off. If that’s genuinely not possible we can talk through other arrangements, but a move always runs better with someone who knows the home on hand.

What if my dates change?

Tell us as early as you can and we’ll do our best to move things around. Weekends and the end of the month fill up first, so a bit of notice gives us the most room to help. The specifics of any deposit or rescheduling sit in the booking terms.
